Hare Krishna to all

Somewhere I read that our physical ailments, diseases have a deeper spiritual cause. For example someone has short sight 'myopia'  because she/he does not see far ahead in the psychological/spiritual sense, someone has stiff joints because he/she is inflexible by nature and does not bend his or her opinions etc.

would like to hear some insightful comments from those who have heard something similar

many thanks

your servant

Whatever you sow you shall reap.

diseases are classified into...1. becoz of own present karma. 2. Because of Past karma. 3. Heriditary. 3.occupational diseases 4. collective karma.

     1. Becoz of own present karma:==like you keep engaging in things which gratify your senses.. not thinking of bad that it might cause.

EX:- a person who constantly drinks for it gives some senses of light head feeling or some pleasure  will surely sufffer liver cirrhosis in future.

cigaratte smoker who engages in chain smoking becoz it pleases him will surely be subjected to lung cancer in future.

    2. Because of past karma:==

It is mentioned in Garuda Purana that all diseases are caused by previous life karmas.

EXAMPLE:===The murderer of a Brahmin is born as a consumptive, the killer of a cow becomes hump backed and imbecile, the murderer of a virgin becomes leprous.

The slayer of a woman and the destroyer of embryos becomes a savage full of diseases; who commits illicit intercourse becomes eunuch, who goes with his teacher’s wife is born diseased-skinned.

The eater of flesh becomes very red; the drinker of intoxicants is born with discoloured teeth; the Brahmin, who, on account of greed, eats what should not be eaten, becomes big-bellied.

He who eats sweet foods without giving to others, becomes swollen-necked; who gives impure food at a Sraaddha Ceremony is born a spotted leper.

The man, who, through pride, insults his teacher, becomes an epileptic; who despises the Vedas and the holy scriptures becomes jaundiced.

Who bears false witness becomes dumb; who takes meal separately from company-row becomes one-eyed; one who upsets a marriage-match becomes lipless; who steals a book is born blind.

Who strikes a cow or a Brahmin with his foot is born lame and deformed; who speaks lies becomes a stammerer; who listens to lies becomes deaf.

A poisoner becomes insane; an incendiary becomes bald; who sells flesh becomes the most unfortunate and unlucky; who eats flesh of other beings becomes diseased.

Who steals jewels is born in a low caste; who steals gold gets diseased nails; who steals any metal becomes poverty-stricken. etc. etc..,

You can refer Garuda purana for all the list of diseases cause by previous past deeds.

Some Heriditary Diseases are also there==>> like diabetes, hypertension etc.  they are also ur past karmas. You had to suffer so u are getting them . BASically speaking all diseases are due to ur bad past karma results that you suffer now.

occupational diseases-- ==> like backaches cause to a IT professional, or a football player injures his tendons in knee.etc.

Disease due to collective karma==> like all effected due to some epidemic spreading over a region. Like virus..

Whatever maybe the cause of the disease.. Disease means you are suffering right? suffering means u are facing the result of past deeds.

Only one way to get rid of these past karmic results is holding to the lotus feet of Lord Sri Hari.

For further details refer to Garuda Purana for all the list of diseases caused by various sinful activities.
