How can such things happen?

Lord Brahma prayed: "My dear Lord Krsna, the whole cosmic manifestation that we are visualizing at present is all within Your body. Yet I am seeing you outside, and you are also seeing me outside. How can such things happen?

  • Hare Krishna,

Well, firstly why did  Brahma went to deep meditation? When he came out of the lotus flower he looked in 4 direction wildly..he couldn't find anything but only water water water everywhere. Because he was looking in 4 direction in surprise and amazement he got 4 heads. He was so much afraid no one to ask also.didn't know where is he actually??..He went back dived into the lotus stem stalk to go to the end of the stalk to find what is the source of his udhgam ( how did he come into existence). isn't it? Then he was unable to reach to the end how ever deep he was going there was no ending visible. so he dived back and sat on the lotus flower and completely brought all his indriyas ( senses) to one point focus.  Then after many years of just doing tapasya on self.  First he was able to connect the Kshirodakshaya Vishnu ( Parmatma feauture which is present in all beings seated in the heart region.

Now ..Brahma Is detaching his body, senses, mind, intelligience and ego..he got connected to self ( atman) then he could realize there is another entity known as Parmatman ...

Who is the seer of the seen. That which Brahma percieved thru his mental vision was ..He ( atman) was interacting with the Parmatman  ..

Now this is a bit complex here.. Please focus.

There are different levels at which Krishna is only working which is not easily understood.

Atma--> Parmatma ( kshirodakshaya Vishnu) ---> garbodakshaya vishnu---> Karnodakshaya Vishnu ( Maha Vishnu)-->  Sri Krishna ( I am not going into full details of the chart just to show you that how at each level Krishna is there as different forms being a Witness.

Body is a field ( Kshetra) and the knower of this field is called Kshetragna.  Every activity that you do is percieved by your body externally with your material eyes but who is seeing ( percieving and being witness to all your activities even what your mind is thinking, what is stored in the subconscious mind.. also.. is noted by Parmatma.. ( first step)- realization.

Next step is.. Parmatma Kshirodakshaya Vishnu, Brahma ( atma of Brahma) are inside whom? who is witnessing these two both at a time? it is Garbodakshaya Vishnu..

Now next higher step.. Parmatma( kshirodakshaya Vishnu)+ Atman ( soul of Brahma) + Garbodakshaya Vishnu are being witnessed by whom?? it is Karnodakshaya Visnu..

Now next higher step.. Parmatma+ Atman+ Garbhodakshya Vishnu are present in Casual ocean, many such Brahmas and many such Garbodakshaya Vishnu's and many such universes are coming out of the pore of Sri mahaVishnu. whose activities are witnessed by Highest Authority Sri Krishna.

So Brahma is seeing Lord Sri Krishna who is Primal cause of all causes. And he is stunned at this.. It is like a Sets and Subsets.. you know right,  in mathematics we studied Sets one is present inside another.( Subsets).. above all there is Superset..

Brahma is harboring inside his heart Parmatma feature and both are inside Garbodakshaya Vishnu and all theree are inside Karno dakshya Vishnu and finally Brahama is able to see Krishna seperately also.

That is why in Brahama Samhita he said Govidam adi purusham.

     As explained in Brahma-saṁhitā (5.46):

    dīpārcir eva hi daśāntaram abhyupetya
    dīpāyate vivṛta-hetu-samāna-dharmā
yas tādṛg eva hi ca viṣṇutayā vibhāti
    govindam ādi-puruṣaṁ tam ahaṁ bhajāmi

Kṛṣṇa expands Himself as Viṣṇu the way a bright candle kindles another. Although there is no difference between the power of one candle and another, Kṛṣṇa is compared to the original candle

So What Brahma was seeing was Lord Sri Krishna adi purusha.. who is the cause of all causes, and is stunned seeing all this that the same Krishna is present inside his heart and same krishna is occupying whole brahamanda in various Vishnu forms and But the Krishna who is witness to all is remaining seprate outside the creation also.

Beautiful reply and elaborately explained. There is one more thing, "There is no difference between the inside and outside of Krsna". Prabhupada stressed on this point. So whether Brahma is seeing the external view or the internal view. There is no difference. Krsna is absolute.

One more thing. I took this question from the tenth canto summary study of the Srimad Bhagavatam, the Krsna book, chapter 14, Prayers offered by Lord Brahma to Lord Krsna.

        • Nice very nice question again prabhu, but everything end in one sentence that is.. Krishna if HE wants to make HIMSELF Visible HE can show HIS Virat Swaroopa occupying whole Brahmanda or He can become a simple cowherd. Or He can show Brahma ji all universes and break his pride also. Its upto Krishna.

          • Hare Krishna

Yes, Krsna reserves the right of not exposing Himself to anyone and everyone,

  • The question is, why such things should not happen? If He is God, it can happen, and it should happen. Everything should happen. If it doesn't happen, then how can He be complete? If it doesn't happen, then how can He be God? :D What do you think?

"One should meditate upon the Supreme Person as the one who knows everything, as He who is the oldest, who is the controller, who is smaller than the smallest, who is the maintainer of everything, who is beyond all material conception, who is inconceivable, and who is always a person. He is luminous like the sun and, being transcendental, is beyond this material nature." - BG 8.9

      Yes, that is correct.

Once we accept that the Lord has inconceivable potencies then everything becomes possible.

Therefore Lord Brahma later stresses on the inconceivable potency of the Lord.
