There are times when i preach but when the other person doesnt agree to my point n says anything offensive about krishna ,i feel dejected,,i feel waste talking to that person but i want that person to atleast give krishna consciousness a thought..I wanted help of you devotees to help me which strong points should i put forward to such adamant people that i m either half way or full way done making them realize theie goal of life!!!
Dear Manali Mataji, please let's take an example:
You love apple. And i buy one apple and start to force You to eat that apple.
--- ;( Manali, eat this apple!!! Eat! Or else...
So will You have desire to eat after that? Do You like to take something with force?
In this way Krishna also does not force Arjuna to worship Him. He explained whole Bhagavad Gita and remained peaceful and no anger and no attachment for the fruits of His preaching.
So we have to take example for original Preacher - Krishna :D
He never forces. He just explains the subject with love and smile and seeing His selfless and loving qualities so many people are becoming His Devotees.
Why? Because by force we can not love.
You are doing very good. Because Krishna loves when Devotee preach about His glories to others and bring them to His Lotus Feet. But we should know that there will be hundred failure in order to get one winning.
As like in chess. It says that stronger is not that who won but that who lost.
Because to win is pleasing but loosing is painful and to be able to tolerate that pain is a great thing.
So we do our duty as a parrot - repeating those things which we heard and understood ourselves and be detached from the results. Because Krishna is - Nara Hari. He only makes one to understand what is correct and what is not.
Not we are the doers.
You are so compassionate, please keep on!
surely your reply has removed much of a burden on my heart...
thank you mataji for opening my eyes:-)
Dear Manali Mataji,
When we preaching our effort is to be a instrument of our Guru and Krsna.
Is very important than prepare yourself every day with a good sadhana that means;
1- Chant a minimum of sixteen rounds.
2- Reading with rapt attention the Srimad Bhagavatam or hear classes of senior devotees.
3- Chant the Guru-astaka prayer with devotion.
We need to remember than the love for Krsna is already in all hearts only we need to awake
by our genuine desire to bless this living entity than are very dear son or daughter of Sri Bhagavan!
Krsna is (Paramesvara) the Supreme Controller, and if we make our effort with devotion that is
the more important aspect.(BG.9:27)
In The Bhagavad Gita,(18:69) said, There is no servant in this world more dear to Me than he(the preacher)
nor will there ever be one more dear! Krsna never speak nonsense words he is all feelings and love!
Believe more and more in Krsna and prayer with the Bhagavad Gita and your preaching service forever are
a spiritual sucess.(BG.18:78)
Upendra Balarama Dasa
thank tou upendra balaama das for such an efficacious reply....
i would surely implement what all u have recommended..
thank you apurv prabhu ji:-)
You have faith in Krishna and Prabhupada. that itself certifies you are a good person.
Today itself mayapur.tv was playing a Prabhupada lecture .. where he was quoting a Tulsidasa Quote meaning one who is suffering he easily accepts Hari. Similarly Mukundalila Dasa Prabhu of Krishnagatipur (Kharagpur) Center says current flows from higher voltage to lower so often you cannot preach your friend but when a senior approaches your friend humbly listens and mostly accepts what he says.
And in this context there is another lecture of Prabhupada in Bhubaneswar or somewhere else in Odissa. Prabhupada was speaking about importance of Tilak, Sikha and Dhoti. There he said with reference to some Rupa Goswami's text that if someone is not maintaining that standard then he should not attempt to preach. that time one Prabhuji from ordnance took it aggressively and he continuously argued with his point that understanding is a internal thing so why give importance to externals and it may be perfect for Rupa Goswami's time but for today's time that should be compromised. After few normal conversions Prabhupada literally scolded him and said principles are principles and those cannot be compromised. I am not capable to see spiritual importance behind it but from a Psychological point of view those externals are important.
So, unless one have high respect for the speaker preaching doesn't goes in head. And to preach you must have the quality of gaining trust because who is accepting your preachings is actually sacrificing his materiel lifestyle at your words. Suppose the Magistrate Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur is speaking to you and on other hand Stephen Hawking is saying god do not exist then you will easily reject hawking saying you just have proposed some speculation which are not yet proved.. And there are Greater scientists + Philanthropists who had (and still now) praised lord for their whole life. But a person whom you think he is confused himself if comes to you and talks about Gita then you will surely laugh at him/her.
well I am unnecessary talking now but When I saw Maral's post I read with respect. and I felt similar thing for Upendra Prabhu too as he had Radha Krishna as his Profile pic. but without my intention I saw Apurv prabhus answer which he did very nicely ... though before I started reading it (back of my head) my mind poked "Dashing Prabhu Says" relating to a FB group "Srila Prabhupada says" ….. That's why I am still suffering and see no hope for my survival we don't even have control over our minds. So maintaining your first impression is also important when you r approaching for verbal preaching.
Lastly you can simply preach with your good behaviour (one can mock it but that one doesn’t stays for long and on other hand there is devotional service which automatically cleans consciousness and makes you more respectable and significant to others ), and it is always better to approach juniors specially kids. Because they at-least do lessen. And for this you don’t need to have a traditional outfit.
hare krishna prabhu ji
i wl surely search n listen to what lectures you mentioned here and abide by them.you put a very good point of external looks as well.I will give it a thought.Thank you prabhu ji for clearing out stuffs for neophytes like me.
thank you prabhu ji for the links:-)
