ASAKTI

The other day I was listening to Adbhut Prabhuji's talk , he said - " other's problems should not be our problems, we shouldn't get involved in other's problems." Is this really called attachment ?Like Bharata maharaja was pulled towards the dear seeing its pain .How can we really turn our back seeing someone suffering? How can this be called as Asakti ?Unless we are totally involved in a cause you can not get total result of it.Bharata maharaja's inclination towards the deer was spontaneous, how can one control such spontaneous urge of doing something? Its difficult to serve others at the cost of one's own life.when you always think of yourself you can not serve others.Total dedication n self-engrssment are like opposite poles. But one cant be like a candle also , burn totally till the end at the same time illumine others. So how one should act in such a situation.Krishna Balaram prabhuji said one should be concerned.Ineed some clarity and insight on this.Harekrishna!

    Hare Krishna dear Anita Mataji,

please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Might be Adbhut Prabhuji told many things prior and after wards of these lines and he might had some different ideas...

but we understood or remembered just this part?...!

As per Your understanding Srila Prabhupada was really concerned with the problems of others.

for example, one late night HH Bhakti Tirtha Swami Maharaj heard call of Srila Prabhupada. When he came to Srila Prabhupada, Prabhupada showed to a side with his finger and told to take it and put outside. And that was an ant who was struggling...

    -----

One evening Srila Prabhupada's disciple was doing his message under the mosquito net but after some time Prabhupada heard the sound of a single mosquito who was inside the net. And told to his disciple to remove hit out not killing it...

    --------

Srila Prabhupada also was very much concerned of the health of his disciples. He used to give to them personally medicinal recipes.

Why? Because he knew that this body belongs to Krishna and we use it in His service. It is an instrument because of that we have to take nice care of it from sicknesses.

proper rest, enough food, protection...these things are not some ordinary material things if we do it understanding that it belongs to Krishna.

    --------

Devotees are always concerned about the problems of living entities. Why we do not eat meat? not because of vegetarianism but because we understand that animals also have soul and we do not want to harm them.

Why we do not do abortions? Because that child has right to live in this world and we are concerned about his happiness.

But Devotees when they solve problems they try to find the root of all problems which is LACK OF KRISHNA CONSCIOUSNESS.

We suffer only because we do not understand that we are not these bodies but souls and our goal should be go back to Godhead. This world is made of problems. This problems are like branches and twigs of a tree.

One yo remove another will grow. But when we remove it from the root then only we will be happy. And to remove from the root, again, means that we have to understand that without Krishna Consciousness our life is nil.

     ----------

In Maharja Bharata's case, he left all his kingdom, sons, wife which also were very dear and needed his shelter and protection. But he left them for the sake of worshiping Krishna. And he believed that Krishna is in everyone's heart and He will only take care of all those people.

In Vanaprastha and Sannyasa stage of life one should understand that they are not shelter givers, they are not protectors, maintainers but only servants of Krishna and only Krishna is so.

Also it says that for the sake of family we have to leave our own self, for the sake of society we should leave our family, for the sake of the world we have to leave our society, for the sake of God we have to leave this world.

If Bharata Maharaja just wished and prayed Krishna to give protection to that deer He would do that. But he thought that he is protection giver and started to take care of it.

    Your servant,
